Tom Bochsler Celebrates George Hunter

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

It may seem unusual for a photographer to promote another photographer, but this has a special meaning because I have admired his work for more than 50 years. I have known of George Hunter and listened to his lectures but only met 8 years ago. Since then I have travelled to Europe on several memorable photographic trips and joined with him as he has donated his archives to various galleries and archives in Canada.

These are a few excerpts from his Blog which are fascinating. Read more on his website: www.georgehunterphotography.com

The Founder of BP Imaging (1956)

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

In 1956 I founded BP Imaging. Back then it was called “Tom Bochsler Photography” and since we have grown a great deal over the years. A lot of things have changed in that time too.

My first wireless receiver was a crystal set. Few know anything about them now but it was a simple ‘home built’ method for receiving radio broadcast and you had to use headphones. These days it is the norm to see iPods and ear buds almost anywhere you go. Communication has changed too over the years and now blogging appears to be the new norm. It is very new to me and I hope that I can add some interesting history to it.
