A couple of months ago we were fortunate enough to shoot another Melt Magazine for Tre Stelle, directed by OK&D Marketing. The weather was gorgeous and we were able to utilize the natural daylight shinning into our studio. Click to continue »
Carmen’s Banquet Hall of Hamilton has opened a brand new Hotel in behind their Banquet Hall. www.carmenshotel.com I was fortunate enough to photograph it for their web site and corporate literature. What an amazing Hotel.
One of the tricky things about food photography is of course the lighting, but along with that goes the presentation of the food by the stylist. The other week the food stylist and I had to do the pizza pull. With the pizza pull you only get one or two shots at it before you’ve got to start again. In this case, it was the second pizza that was the hero!
About 8 weeks ago we shot for the new spring/summer issue of Melt Magazine by Tre Stelle featuring their cheese products. Not one flash was used throughout the entire shoot. Love the natural light! Thanks to good weather and longer days we were able to shoot everything with the bank of windows in our daylight studio.
About a month ago I started a menu board photo shoot for Teriyaki Experience. It started small and kept growing. We ended up shooting both Canadian and USA menu boards, now that was a surprise. How often do we get to shoot the USA versions?

When all was said and done we had taken between 90 and 100 food shots. Averaging about 8 shots a day, now that’s motoring. We still managed to break for lunch, sit outside and enjoy a little fresh air on our picnic table under a tree.

So, now you’ve seen the final results of the plastic pool. Here’s a couple of shots of how it was achieved. It’s all smoke and mirrors sometimes.
Recently we were asked to do photo for Colio Estates Winery, through their agency Play Advertising.

On the surface, the brief sounded simple enough: shoot wine bottles standing on a patio table beside an outdoor pool on a sunny summer day. Upon closer inspection we realized that although we had a patio table, there was no sunny day, no summer and no open pool. We would have had to wait weeks to shoot the real thing.

The other day we built a small set in our studio to shoot some wall coverings for one of our clients – Colour & Design – a commercial wallcovering producer. Sets are never simple, first you need the designer to come up with the overall look and then we figure out how to make it work. For the construction, I wanted to keep it simple, so we used Gator board for the walls. The wall covering was mounted on the boards and set into place with the props. Lighting is also tricky, you have to make the scene look as natural as possible. Soft shadows and high lights to create some depth to the overall scene is a must. In the end, the shoot was successful. Let us know what you think.

Weeeeee’re BAAAAACK! The North American International Motocycle Supershow was last weekend at the International Centre and we had a BLAST! It was BP Imaging’s first time attending the show and it was every bit as exciting being an exhibitor as it was for the patrons!
